It’s Time To Get Back Up: An Honest Life Update

by | Oct 21, 2021 | Uncategorized | 1 comment

It’s been nearly a year since I’ve last posted here in our community, and by all online standards I suppose that makes me a terrible blogger. This Covid season has been tough, and it seems it has rendered me speechless, feeling like I have nothing left over to offer. Now, don’t get me wrong, this season has been beautiful in many ways, most of which being the love of family and friends, and yet I have felt like I have been running at 50% of my usual battery and capacity both in moments of joy and sorrow. I felt as though I needed to return to where I was a year ago spiritually, emotionally and mentally in order to start reaching out to others on this forum again.

Yet, I was wrong. When I call to mind the best seasons of my life it was never that I had everything together but that even in the storm when I was floundering and weak, I was trying with what little strength I had to rest in God’s love and encourage His people. That was when I felt most alive. That was when I felt closest to Jesus. It was then that I experienced the love, joy, peace and contentment that I have been longing for in this season.

So friend, if you have been feeling weary, weak, overwhelmed, or numb, praying that you can just get out of this funk so that you can be ready for God to use again, here’s your sign to get up and get moving, even if the feelings aren’t there yet. Don’t wait for the emotions to catch up or you, like me, may be waiting for a long time. I was reminded today that one of the ways we overcome the darkness is through the word of our testimony. If God moves in a special way in our lives today, we can proclaim it tomorrow. Our testimony doesn’t have to be big, fancy or earth-shattering to touch the life of someone else.

So this is me trying to get back on the horse again, asking God to use me, even in my weakness, for His glory and the good of others. Will you join me?

This is beautiful and so very true. Sometimes we (I’m guilty of this) may also say that we’ll wait until we have a good amount of time to do the things that we know we must do or the things that God has called us to do. Often that good amount of time never comes and so we never do it. The key is to get going, take those baby steps, and watch God work. He will provide the time for all that He has called us to do.
